Laser liposuction / lipolysis is a revolutionary new procedure that uses a Nd-YAG laser to melt away localized fat — a safe, minimally invasive addition to liposuction. The laser is introduced through a tiny incision into the treatment area. As a result, there is minimal scarring. The laser vaporizes and liquefies the fat on contact resulting in less fat. Careful shaping of the treatment area makes way for a better contour and appearance to the body area treated. Laser encourages a natural response in the body which leads to new collagen formation and healthier, thicker skin. The connective tissue is also tightened as the new collagen forms. This tissue tightening results in less loose skin after the procedure.
Laser liposuction / lipolysis is not a replacement to liposuction or liposculpture. Laser lipolysis is suited to treating small areas of the face, neck, arms, breasts, abdomen, thighs, knees, calfs and areas of loose and flabby skin, including cellulite. Prof. Gjuric uses laser lipolysis either as a sole procedure or as a finishing tool, and the skin tightening results it provides makes it a prime technology to combine with Vibro-liposuction.
Most patients only require a single treatment. The session will usually last 60-90 minutes for each area undergoing laser lipolysis treatement. Larger areas may require further sessions after 8 – 12 weeks.
We recommend that you wear a special compression garment after the procedure for at least two-four weeks. The garment is fit at our office immediately following the procedure. We also prefer if you avoid formal exercise routines for two weeks following the procedure. Lymphatic drainage massage is started the day after liposuction, and should be continued for three weeks. The final results are not seen for 3-6 months.
Adults don’t create additional ‘new’ fat cells. When a person gains weight, the fat cells expand in size. Laser lipolysis permanently removes the fat cells. Any future weight gain of fatty tissue should be deposited in areas where the laser lipolysis procedure was not performed.
